“Just put them in the same bed!” Audrey signed hysterically at the baffled hospital staff.

Colin came up behind his daughter, resting a hand on her shoulder. The eldest Brightman child automatically stilled. “Is there a problem?” He asked the nurse.

In the face of the rich, the nurse panicked. “N-Yes, sir. Ms. Brightman insists on her brothers being together. They’re already in the same room.”

“You know they don’t do well apart.” Audrey caught her father’s attention and signed far too rapidly for the nurse to keep up. “You know they’ll panic the second they wake up.”

“And if they aren’t as close as could be, they’d make themselves as close as could be.” He conceded the point. He turned back to the nurse. “Put them together. And by together, I mean the same bed.”

The nurse sputtered. “But… Sir, policy dictates…”

“I don’t give a damn about policy. My sons hate being separated, much less after an ordeal like this.” Colin leveled a glacial glare on the nurse. “They would end up in the same bed whether you put them there or not. It’s just how much they get injured in the process.”

“Their friends say they still have the same habits they did as children.” Audrey signed quickly.

Her father caught on. “They don’t use the other bed then?”

“No, just play on it, mess it up…” She looked away, eyes filling.

The nurse’s shoe squeaked, earning her the attention of the Brightmans. “What are you still doing here?”
